So I have a pair of wet suit booties and have neglected them in the past ( not cleaning or drying )
Anyhow I spose they have now got to the stage where they stink.
Any tips on how to make these bad boys less pungent eg safe cleaning liquid, that wont destroy them.
Cheers Billy.

Step 1.) Throw'm in the washing machine

Step 2.) Get the missus to press the geee ohh button

Step 3.) Remove from linen line when wet

Step 4.) Share the stoke of said flower smelling booties with mates over beers after session

Most booty smells if you are doing it right.

Or to be more helpful - when dry, fill with bicarb soda for as long as you can.

Wash them in a mix of warm water and vinegar then dry thoroughly. No more stink. You don't need much vinegar. Just a splash in each boot, add some water. Swoosh it around.

No. Given that you come out of the water almost dry there is no way I would piss in a sealed seam suit. You would end up stewing in your own piss.

If the suit is stinky from bacteria then the vinegar will kill it and get rid of the stink. If the suit is stinky from a build up of urine, and the ammonia in it, then you would need to wash it in warm soapy water.

Vinegar is 5% ascetic acid and is a very effective anti-bacterial agent. I find it works every time fixing stinky booties, and it is not messy so it is easy to use. I have had no luck at all using detergents and disinfectants.

Cauncy.....I disagree NSW def warrants boots, however I wear them because the alternative of nasty things ( natural and unnatural ) that find their way into my feet at my local isn't nice.

The vinegar and warm water or bicarb and water sounds the goods.

I was unsure if machine wash could ruin boots hence the post.

Cheers everyone...Billy...

I use a mix of 1 part mouthwash to 4 parts water. Let them soak for an hour or so and then dry them out.

I use it on all my wetties and booties. It works a treat.

Gentle enough that it doesn't damage the neoprene, kills the bacteria plus, it leaves everything smelling minty fresh!
