hey guys!!

Im flying this saturday from the Netherlands to melbourne, and will stay at st. kilda to start teaching for 4 months.

Could someone help me out with some more information about accomodation?? does anybody know a cheap appartment or anything?

Also more info about wind, boardshort or wetsuits, etc. is always welcome :)!

Very excited to get there! Its way too cold down here!

thanks!

For accommodation i'd recommend speaking with the kite school you'll be working for and see if they can line up something like a share house or put you in touch with some of the other instructors.

For the wetsuit / boardshorts thing... the style around these parts are to wear a wetsuit with boardies over the top.
The water temperature at the moment is ~18ºc but over summer it'll get up to about 22-23º. Most people are wearing wetsuits at the moment (myself included). That said coming from the EU you'll probably be fine in nothing more than a mankini or budgie smugglers.

(Please don't wear a mankini or budgie smugglers... they're not typically Australian and we'd rather not cop an eyeful of baywatch buldge).

That's all we need. More people teaching kiting at St Kilda. Like there aren't enough already.

Wetsuit
- yes bring it............ you will regret it if you dont ( sometimes whilst the water temp can be 20+ degrees we can still have plenty of days with southerly wind so the air temp can drop to around 15 -18 degrees combined with 20knots and it starts getting cold. This is not often the case but better to have a wettie rather and stay out for a few hours than freezee ya b@ll$ off.

Accomodation
- as Koma said get in touch with the kite school(s) you are working for as they will no doubt have some options for you otherwise you will have no trouble finding a place in ST Kilda anyway.

Ignore the butchers comments, he is just upset that he headed too far south in the volvo ocean race.
