i would first like to say, that i think seabrezze is a website made by geniuses really easy to get around on, very well organized and full of great features. really love your site

my suggestion is quite simple, i am a poor traveller with no car and almost no money and have been in sydney for 1 month now, without any kitesurfing. very sad and hungry to go kitesurf. in order to go kitesurf i have to change bus 4 times and it will take me 1.5 hour.

anyway, my suggestion is to create a forum called "todays spot" or something like that. In this forum you write when and where you are going kitesurfing, an example could look like this:

Topic: Dolls Point today 3.pm

BOB: going to dolls point today at 3.pm got room for one more in the car if you want to join

JOHN: i dont have a car and i really want to go kitesurf today, so it would be awesome if i could join you. could you pick me up ADRESS

BOB: great.. i will pick you up at the ADRESS at 3.pm

this gives kitesurferes like me the option to go kitesurf without spending 1.5 hour on a bus everytime i want to go kitesurf and you get alot of new kitebuddys. futhermore if you are a newbie and dont want to be on the water by yourself then you can see where the kitesurfers is that day and you can join them without feeling unsecure by going out alone.

Hope you like my idea

Cheers

Julius

my thought was that everytime you are planing to go kitesurf you inform of where and when, so if other kitesurfers are thinking about going kitesurfing they could see where and when they could go kitesurf in order to meet other kitesurfers and in some cases get a ride.

Sounds pretty complicated. Keep it simple meet 1 or 2 people who kite at your location and hook up with them. Playing tag on seabreeze seems like a laborious way to get a lift I doubt weather people will keep logging in through the day to see If someone wants a lift. Use "hookup" if you don't know anyone.
Goodluck.

... dude, when its on I can't even talk english, its like a second language when you 'gots the kite fever'.. I will lie and bull s h i t my way out of everything and get my arse to the beach,,,, racing to the beach breaking the law, speeding, on the way ... so posting details is not going to happen! So sorry to be selfish but I struggle to even text my mates "on" on my phone.

Good idea in principle and I for one would love to have someone let me know if its on!!

Good luck,

Robbie

hmmm i have to agree.......all basic needs are held off until I get to the spot.....sometimes i am not capable of general chat......'i'm really sorry but i need to get my kite pumped but ill chat after my first session'.

a better idea is to move in with other kiters. that's what i did. we've shared a few lifts but i have made a few statements like.....'hurry up i'm leaving with or without you'

good luck with it

it is not difficult and no science, actually we use this in Denmark, when we are uncertain if there is kitesurfers in the lokal spots, we check the forum before driving to the spots. it is annoying to drive to the spots and realizing that there is no kitesurferes.

Why the hell would you travel without any money. Um kinda important. How bout you:
1. Get a job
2. Get a Car (good runabout $500 to $1000)
3. Move closer to beach

I wouldnt give a stranger on the net a lift and like Jas73 said not good giving out those details.

this was not a suggestion to help me, this was a suggestion to help beginners, so they would know where and when to go kitesurf in order to not be alone. i know that when i first started kitesurfing i didnt want to go out alone. and the thing with the car ride was if you anyways was planing on going kitesurfing a had room for one more in your car, why not offer the option to give a ride to someone who didnot have a car and wanted to go kitesurf.

anyways i hope i havent upset annyone, just wanted to know what you aussie kitesurferes thought about the idea and fair enough i take it back.

Cheers

Julius

Hi Julius .. Welcome to seabreeze. As the guys above suggest, the hookup is great. Once you get a crew together, you'll be away. Don't be shy about posting daily 'will anyone be at...' posts in the hookup until you get your local crew.

Enjoy..

Welcome mate, and hope you get some wind in the near future.

I drive down every time there is wind, and sorry to sound selfish but I would not use this service.

a) If it's on, I get by ass in the car asap. I don't leave my house until there are green (or high yellow) bars. But when I see them, I don't wait around to postn seabreeze.

b) When it's on, I want to get there asap. I wouldn't really want to detour to pick someone up.

Saying that, if you can get somewhere between Mascot and Brighton during the week, and Erskineville to Brighton on weekends, I'd be more than happy to drop by your house if the arrows are green :-)

Good luck,
Tom

Don't get upset by the naysayers here mate - most of them probably haven't set foot outside Australia... ever. Unless it's to go to Bali.

Your car trip idea works well in northern Europe, where the wind is on and it blows all day - you can take your time getting to the beach, and the tides also play a big factor.

However, in Australia, when it's on, it's like responding to a fire alarm, the Seabreeze kicks in and you drop everything to get to the beach as quickly as possible. In Melbourne the Seabreeze might only blow for an hour, especially at the start of the season.

Anyway, I have used "the hookup" to get to places I can't cycle to and it works well. So give it a go mate!
