hello,
we are new in Australia, and are living in Sydney. We are looking for some suggestions, for a kite trip of 1 week, at the end of april. Where is the wind at its best in this period? I read we should travel more north, direction Mackay, Townsville, Cairns,...
Difficult to make a choice if you don't know the places. So any suggestions are welcome. Our aim is to fligh into a town, hire a car and drive from one spot to another. So, please: help us to organize a good kite trip.
thxs,

Give the sunshine coast a try there will usually be some sort of wind or sea breeze up until about june.

It would probably be the cheapest in terms of flights to fly direct into Cairns. Then you can drive down the coast. There are heaps of places along the way like Mission beach, Townsville, Alva, Bowen, and Mackay just to name a few. We are just at the start of our season here in Cairns with 20 knott winds predicted for the next week although I can't make any promises for when you come.

thanks for the info. I think we will follow the suggestion to fligh into Cairns, and hire a car, and explore the beaches down there.

Mackay is the southern most you will want to go.Definately recommend bowen.not a real big town but awesome wind.Think nicole, hugh and baz lewman will be around in bowen at that time as well.

we are thinking to hire a campervan, since we have a little kid with us. Can we camp with our campervan near the beaches? or is it obligated to camp in a campingsite?
