Sounds awesome - just waiting for this rain to clear up and then we can be away. Leave some cars at Stumers and then drive down to Mudjimba...

yeah was all good except for 2 trashed kites along the way 6 starters only 4 finished, couple of big waves shredded Dano's kite an Duncan got floged as well, there was some nice big ones around the Coolum Yaroomby stretch,I went to take a biggie on an ran out of power an got swallowed alive so I unhooked an let it go an had a big swim in,no drama my lines not even tangled.....maybe 2morrow

What an awesome session - about 3 hours from Mudjimba to Stumers including aobut 1/2 an hour at the island. Caught my biggest wave on a kite ever out the back of Coolum and as the wave smashed behind me I speeded past Blownaway just to see him and kite getting swallowed. Lucky he unhooked early and saved the kite - good lesson there.

Check the pics of Dano's kite here...

jeez you guys are keen, i went and had a look at currimundi about midday and it was raining, squalls every five minutes, massive surf and dirty water, 20 knots gusting to 28. didn't look pleasant so i went and had some lunch then checked out the caloundra river mouth which was honking as well. managed a good hour and a half session there but it got really gusty towards the end and was getting up near 30 knots, everyone came in.

still, better than no session at all i guess

Hey Neill - the conditions were a bit different up here (only 30km's away) we had about 17 to 22 all day - I think our strongest gusts were about 26. We only had 1 rain squall for about 15 mins.

Amazing how the conditions can change so much over such a short distance.

that's true - caloundra river mouth was looking about 10x better than currimundi was. don't know any of the other spots up there further north though.

in the afternoon, when it was screaming above 25 knots there were guys out in the bribie passage, about 500m south of the rivermouth there. i thought you weren't allowed to kite in there, behind the island, which was why everyone was jammed up at the river mouth? there were a bunch of kites in there on the flat water, looked like they had heaps of room to themselves as well. where do they launch from in a south easter?

Hey Sunseker,
I trashed my 16mtr on a 5-6foot and got moti to repair it, couldn't tell the diff. However about your man that's shredded.
Sat arvo was pretty good, had the coolum surf club all to myself and with the wind around 18-22 knots the 12mtr bow holding it's own.
Now with my knee feeling a little more stronger (Rolled my knee at stumers in 2 inches water while landing a jump)I'll be catchin up with the crew for some downwinders soon.
Forget this weekend SW's annd no sign yet of letting up.
PS Vic missed your call this arvo, hope it was good!!

Yeah this arvo was great - we went from Yaroomba to Mudjimba at about 4:30 about 8 of us - finished in near dark.

Didn't call Vic this arvo - must have been another missed call...?
