g,day,

i am slowly but surely getting into this 'pastime' and was wondering if anybody knows of a kiteboarding 'club' on the Sunshine Coast? if there isn't one going does anyone fancy giving a relative newcomer a few pointers? have already had lessons and got some reasonable time on terra-firma but NEED to get on the water with the board! any takers?

i might even get you steamin' on some 'quality brew'!

cheers,

haggisheid.....

Best thing to do is start one yourself..........the enthusism is killing me.

I know there are goups out there that kite together regularly. Email lists work.

For me personally, it is much better to go on adventure in groups.....many reasons here.

where abouts on the sunny coast are you? i am new to the sport to and was wondering the same thing but i have found theres normally a few kiters out booreen point (lake cootharaba) and wen the wind is up theres normally a few people doin downwinders from coolum to sunshine... or peregian beach to sunshine. If you just go down the beach and get talkin to them they are more than willing to give you tips and help out... once you are confident they will probably happily have you go along with them for a downwinder.

Why don't yoo all try to get together at the upcoming Coolum Kite Festival, the Off the Lip Comp?
No need to do anything very formal to start a club, could end up being just a phone list, something with a webpage that hangs off the AKSA site or something?

Local clubs are a great idea, they can guide newbies towards better places to learn, taking pressure of spots where the sport has the potential to clash with other beach users.
So many other win/win benefits for a small effort.

Hey all,

While the topic has been brought up i thought i might add that there is a Botany Bay Kiteboarding Club in its infancy.
There is a local guy called Graeme who is keen to get a club started and at the moment is wanting to see how much interest there is in the area.

So if you think this is a good idea and would like to be a part of it you should send Graeme
mailto:[email protected] an email with your contact details.

i was thinkin we could email all our details (name, phone number, email etc) to one person who makes up the list, then when a good list of people is made up the list could be emailed off to all the people on the list? dunno wat u think of that

Hey windslave ??

Your user name is way too similar to mine.
Think up a new one. (Like surfslave maybe...just kidding)

There can only be one slave per forum.

I guess if you were really into dance parties then you could be a raveslave ..... Or if you are into underground exploration you could be of course a caveslave

If you were into medievil knights and princesses you could be a knaveslave or perhaps if you are always trying to act in a rightful manner you would be a behaveslave

Of course these 'slaves would be into quite different forums

We are all slaves of one kind or another to the things that keep us bemused and focused, honour your masters, slaves!

Good winds
