Is surfing on a kite surfboard a realistic proposition or are the dynamics of a kiting surfboard going to be a pig of a surfboard?
The North X surf was supposed to be a crossover but looks like just a larger version of the whip.

I've been riding a 5'10" firewire that I can surf and kite with although I would not pick that to surf on above any of my other boards. It's only slightly under volume but very heavy. BHowever having a board I can use for both when traveling has its benefits.
This board is 29.5ltr and at 80kg my optimum is about 31-32lts, but most of the kite branded kite boards are around 22lts and would not be surfable.

I kite on my surfboard. It's a 6'4" quad which surfs well in good waves, it kites okay but is a little stiff and long making for a bumpy ride and the wax wears off quickly. It's great when you get into a nice down the line wave but otherwise not ideal and it's getting trashed quick despite 6 ounce glass.....

I'm going to bite the bullet and get a kite specific surfboard. Maybe the f-one mitu pro or surf model and just keep them separate

or just kite a surfboard

Couldn't agree more Laurie... but a board for each sport and for each dependent adds up very quickly. Last count 5 windsurfers, 6 surf boards and 3 kite boards.
