Being Stateline, they only talk about the state you're in. So in good ol Sth Oz we got brush fence fires, Holden Factory cutbacks and guide dogs, no kiting for us. Oh well, back to watching the token hottie on Fuel

I watched the noon repeat show of Stateline while having my lunch. ^^^
I saw Puppet on TV rigging up his weapon.
Once again WAKSA is on a mission...........
a mission to maintain permanent access for kiting on public beaches.
The WAKSA General battles the insurgents on the beach-head.
He promises victory if you buy his brand of insurance.
lol.
I also saw Reg of Windsurfing Perth on TV.
The long established pole-shop that went to the darkside, a foot in both camps.
Reg told the viewers that kites are like trucks on the freeway.....
and that trucks should always remain downwind of........errrrr cars/poleys I guess.
lol.
Which is interesting cause just the other day I was spreading out my wife's 5m waroo kite on the grass getting ready to pump it up.....
and a poley was rigging up next to me on the grass too, outhauling and downhauling his 5.2 sail.
I looked at both and figured that this could be a perfect time to do a size comparison between a kite and a windsurfing sail.
Size for size, one over the other.
And guess what ?
They might have a different shape, but the length, width and area were about the same.
So my wife's kite is not a truck, more like a sportscar.
But getting back to the WAKSA General and his troops......
If you want to win this fight, there's only one war strategy that has a chance.
And that's downsizing the troops......
Instead of a battalion invading the beaches, a guerrilla force of kiters would be better.
But WAKSA promotes the growth of membership so WAKSA is really the enemy.

Slave
Judging by your number of posts on this site you must have been involved in this sport for a number of years. Many more than myself.
It amazes me how someone with so much "experience" can post the amount of negative and ill informed bull s.h.i.t. that you do.
Experienced people like you should be leading the way with positive reinforcment and evolution of the sport, not bagging everything that doesn't fit into your narrow minded view.
And seeing as you clearly have no comprehension of the spoken word, let me know if you need the kite/truck reference clarified for you to understand correctly. Clearly nothing to do with size you idiot.

What Reg was referring to was visibility of kites, not the physical size being the same as a truck.

Whats the first thing you see as you approach the beach, not the water, or the surfer, or the windsurfers.

The first thing you see as you approach the beach is the kites flying as they are 20m up in the air and they stand out.

Just the same as being in a traffic on the freeway, it's hard to identify individual cars in the distance but easy to spot the trucks.

The general public always seem to be transfixed watching kiting down the beach (god only knows why) as they can relatively easily keep track of an individual in a crowd (for better or worse) where tracking someone in the masses who may be behaving worst is far more difficult.

That would be my understanding of the comment

Please allow me to explain the true meaning behind Reg's "trucks (kites) should remain downwind" statement.
Like a lot of poleys, Reg suffers from string-paranoia.
And like so many unreasonable phobias, it's a mental condition that is unjustifiable if you study the statistics.
So instead of saying kites are like trucks on a freeway.....
maybe Reg should have said kites are like loose bandsaws in a factory.

Get it ?

no, kites are like apache helicopters , they hover in the air unless they are about to crash then its one of the rotors that can take someones head off on the way down.

If he suffers string paranoia then he must be absolutely terrified when he's out kitesurfing then.

There is only person who talks about "string-paranoia" and "loose bandsaws" when referring to kitesurfing and it isn't someone interviewed on stateline.

One day you will get over your guilt from going over to the dark side

That explains it. Too many good sessions can make you see goodness in everyone, even in WaveSlave. Its a very dangerous condition, sort of like wanting to cuddle a crocodile.

There is something not quite right about 'slave coming over to the light side.

I saw the program also on tv and i must say that it did not make kitesurfing look good .
Reg from windsurfing perth was definately one sided in his oppinion and i for one am not about to stay down wind of all the poleys once i have launched and am out on the waves,

it should be fun for everyone in the water !
