Hi all,
Just a quick note on kiting in winter and all the winging i am hearing (can't wait for summer....).

HTFU ,i only had one summer kiting and was dreading the winter but as it turned out i have managed to kite twice a week and at least once every week end!!!

Fair enough we (harry surfer is my nemesis) had to wake up real early and rig up in the rain still in the dark to benefit from the early sea breeze but you can not remove the smile from our face when we pack up our gear after a wicked session on our own only to see everyone else arrive too late with the wind fading.

Winter is also doing marvel to my kitting as i had to deal with some pretty hectic conditions, huge wind blast in front of big clouds, pelting rain blinding you,sea weed and the chop on the water pumping your legs.I have also sh$%t myself a few times seing black clouds overhead and may have even sent a few prayers for the lightning to stick to their clouds[}:)]

I only have 2 kites (a 12 and an 8 metres) and did manage most conditions (appart from a couple of blasting storms with 6 meters out their with skills i simply don't have).

Winter is sick,i love it, and summer will bring even more joy

Thats the attitude Sebol,

Winter is the most fun kiting if you are dedicated and have the basic skills and knowledge to handle it.

There is much to be learned from winter riding young grasshopper, as you have found out!

Summer is going to be great! Good positive thread mate. Have a Green vote!

Good winds,

That's what I was thinking when I landed and you launched at 9am last Saturday...

this was my first winter i had kited all through, with a new wettie i was still warm in 14 degree water. it is great to maintain and improve your skills through to summer
we had some days in newcastle with 40kts+ and with flat water it was still awesome fun if you didn't do anything silly
ur right if winter can bring this much fun, summer should bring even more!

what are you's talking about?? Air temp mid 20's, water probably the same. Cloudless day, 15 - 20 Knots. Most riders wearing boardies only. the odd wuss in a springsuit.

P.s. does the rest of aus get cold and not get any wind in winter or something?

Too true. Kiting in WA winter is great, a bit sketchy sometimes which is all part of the fun. Beaches are empty, the swell is big and it certainly beats to f*** out of sitting at home, or doing "almost" anything else.

And it really isn't that cold!
