Hey guys and gals. Iv had my trainer for a few weeks now. I have flown it around 10 times. So iv spent around 15 hrs on it. Iv had experience in light winds and also some decent winds that allowed me to get up to around 4-5ft of air.
Ill be booking in for a lesson at KP at dolls point in a week or two. Hopefully with the aid of my trainer kite experience i might only need 1 or 2 lessons. My question is would the SB3 or HP or the Waroo 08 be a suitable kite? I would like something new unless i can find something decent 2nd hand.
I will be kiting down the south coast mainly around shoal haven river (while learning and getting confident) then 7 mile beach, and jervis bay ect. Im a tad over 70 kilos last time i checked. I realise that these kites are around the 1700-1800 dollar mark, but if it will see me out my kiting days then i will be happy. Iv pretty much got my eye on the mystic waste harness, and a board im not real fussed on, bassically something that suits my weight. any input appreciated
Happy days.

I'm sure all 3 would be good kites.
I have the SB3 12m, this is my 4th Cab SB, and it is a great kite.
Try them all if you can, and see how you like the flying characteristics, the bar setup, the relaunch, the bag quality, etc. If you are going to pay for a new kite and keep it for 2 years then you want to be 100% happy with the whole package.
good luck, have fun!

thanks for the reply neoniphon. I will take your advice and after i have had my lesson(s) i will ask the shop if they could lend me a demo of the modles im interested and make judgement from that. I just hope the shop will do that. Is it common for shops to demo someone a kite if they know ur interested?

I reckon you are better getting 2 2nd hand 07 kites than 1 brand new 08 kite.
It will be the same price, you will kite more days, it is heaps more fun kiting thr 'right' kite and as a newby you will crash your kites more (You dont get better if you dont crash your kites) and worry less about the damage.
Anyone who says there is such a thing as a one kite quiver, is not having as much fun as someone with 2 or more kites.
For your size I would recommend a 7 and 10 or if you have lighter wind maybe a 9 and 12.
I can also guarantee that if you like kiting you will want to update your kites every year or two (even if you cant afford it), so you will loose less $$$.
But then again, if you kite lots it is a pretty cheap sport

Hey Menox,
I have only been kiting about 1.5-2 months, so this is only comming from a newbie. I have the SB2 12, which I think is an awewsome kite. Very forgiving, good depower and easy to relaunch. The other week, I tried a brand new 11 m Waroo which I thought was awesome. It had practically no bar pressure at all and turned heaps faster than the Switchblade. But once again, I am inexpereinced, can only manage a couple meters of air, and am only just about to get into the waves as I have toe side pretty good.
I would agree with Wal. Get two kites rather than 1 new one. I just bought a 8 m 07 Havoc (for 100 bucks!!!!!!), and from what I have been told is a pretty good quiver for Sydney conditions (I am about 74kg). As you are smaller, maybe get an 11 and an 8, or 11 and 7.
Whatever you decide you'll have a blast.
