spot the sheep shagga. stinky goat i remember you too. i ain't coming over to live.. and my long term plans seem to work better than my short term plans.. then again that ain't hard to achieve.
as for bow kites.. they have their plusses. Out where i live in east auckland virtually everyone has them. low incomes + gusty conditions = cheap bow kite ie waroo. The waroo fecken cranks... i have yet to find a downside to this kite. In gusty stuff it rules the roost. Dunno how it will compete in steady WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA though.
after the three trips i will be comparing the merits of each spot in terms of kitesurfing only from a visiting point of view. And then the winner will have the pleasure of being graced with my presense every January after 2010.
i have never been to the south island and have heard conflicting reports of the place. Also i have never been to Perth but heard plenty of feedback from those who have gone... all say it rulz.
however i have been to Wellington and kited there. My impression of the place differs HUGELY with most other kiters who have kited there. They hated it there... i loved it and allmost moved there.
But it isn't certain. It depends on money matters of course and for those who despise me the trip is more likely NOT to go ahead (I'd put it at about a 25% chance of happening).
New Caledonia is much closer and much cheaper. Plus i have a friend that goes there every November to watch the world champs so finding others who are keen won't be an issue. He isn't exactly enthused on the idea of heading to WA. I told him that you guys get kickass wind all summer but he likes the tropicial theme and sightseeing... I DON'T... i'm there to kite and ONLY to kite.
There are big disadvantages for me in regards to New Caledonia. There are no windstats to assure me of the wind. And there are no live windmeters to view and study. This website seabreeze.com.au is the best website/forum/windmeter setup i have ever seen. nothing in NZ even comes close to this. Well done to Laurie. i can see the green arrows in a nice consistant straight line from midday onwards on the Perth meters over summer.. so i know the wind is rockin.
Another problem with New Celedonia and the time that we'd go is that it's in November.... right in the middle of Auckland's windy season. January is uninspiring in akl and crankin in WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA so a great time to come over then.
