There are a number of kiteshops/schools in the Carins area, all the way upto Port Douglas. I believe their windy season is just about to start! Send us a PM and I'll put you in touch with one of our instructors who's French and stayed in Cairns for a good few months last year. As for Brissy, worst wind is normally May to August, and often gusty offshore, but there are a number of spots you can still kite safely in offshore winds such as Wellington Point, Scarborough and Clontarf. You will need a wetsuit in the winter months in Brisbane.
