I know mostly everyone rides suicide but hearing a pro slingshot rider (on fuel with 5th) leashes straight to the 5th got me thinking.
There seems like there are a few good benifits such as no snapping and bending out leashes, not getting stretched as much riding boots and just saving the kite from destruction.
Is there anyone out there who rides leashed to their 5th line? Does it work well? I was thinking somehow putting a stopper around 3m down the 5th line, anyone have experience on this matter?
yes it works fine. the older fuels were designed so that you clipped to the 5th. they had an eye spliced into the end, and that stupid "wave grenade" thing so you could relese if it wrapped.
you don't need a stopper, the bar doesn't usually go that far & it's a pain in the arse to wind/unwind with a stopper, but it's easy enough to put one on if you think you need to.
i still ride with an 07 bar set up like this. i don't clip to the 5th becuase i hate having to relaunch every time i drop the bar, but there is no other reason not to.
kiters have such short memories when it comes to gear...
