Hi,

For anyone who has ridden both kites a fair amount is there a big difference in bar pressure between the two?

cheers for any help,

tom

Huge difference - riding the vapor is like riding the liquid force havoc, very light but you still know where the kite is. You need man hands for the flow 12m and above... having said that the new 2008 range is out and they say they have reduced the bar pressure on the flow.....

I have been riding a flow 07, and it is great but a bit of a workout with the high bar pressure. For this same reason i find it awkward to ride one handed, do others find this??

The Vapor has a lot lighter bar pressure, although on saying that the bar pressure can be adjusted by tensioning or loosening the 5th line,
Thanks

my elation in flying the vapor was for the same reason you highlight dymo - it really wants you to hang on with both hands - on the vapor I am riding a lot more with one hand and doing board grabs etc... which I couldnt do before on the 12m flow.

thanks lancekenny,

I am planning on buying a vapour when I get to WA in october. I have been getting a bit frustrated with my flow always pulling like a beast. I cant wait to get my hands on the vapour. Do you find it has as much low wind power as the flow, I am just thinking about whether to get a 12 or a 14, will probably aim to get a 10 later on for a trip up north. I found my 12 flow was perfect for general riding and would look for something of a similar nature.

take it easy,

tom

Hi Tom - the 12m flow definately has more low end than my 10m Vapor - that said I have been successful at flying it in lighter winds because of its speed - if that makes any sense? I think they call it apparent speed - but yeah I will be a 10 and 14 quiver this summer...

metaphors:
vapor(12); holding down the accelerator
Flow(10); peddling a bike

i have only ridden each kite once but the difference was well noticed.

vapor has heeps of low end when you get your speed going, its a very fun fast kite. flow is like a truck. i think flow would be kinda nice for wakestyle but i prefered the vapor, i rode a 10m and found the bar pressure near perfect, i never bothered playing with the 5th line like matt suggested though. I say the 10m needs a 45 or 50cm bar at most, almost TOO fast on the 55

As a guide I took my flow 7m out this morning - for my brother in law who is learning to kite - the wind was up to 14kts but was gusty and typically lighter... he was body dragging so I went and grabbed the board and it was strong enough to pull my 100kgs out of the water for 50m out and 50m back. Scott then had a crack on the board and after 20 minutes got his first ride in of about 15m. Consider him hooked and on the 12m next time...

Charl called it a truck and that is so true - it just has so much low end grunt... I couldnt jump or anything but it was enough to plane a long nicely...

Keen to see what the 08 kites are like as they say they have reduced the bar pressure on them - the shapes look very similar to what they are now though...
