Man. This guy is largely responsible for kiting bans in two of my closest shires. He kites dangerously in and out of people on the sand and along footpaths. I've watched him. He's bragged to me about kiting on footpaths and suggested kiting (land boarding with power kites on carparks on shopping centre roof tops at night... He also said that that's what he said he does.. He also really annoyed me personally by feeding me a bunch of lies about kite surfing to try to get me to buy his merchandise. He told me that only elite surfers and world champion wake boarders who already have heaps of kite flying experience can learn to kite surf..... He told me I would need to buy two or three different types of his skate boards and learn to ride them to develop good board skills. Buy a 4m foil to learn kite skills. Then combine the two skills for a year or two.... (no exaggeration. That is what this guy really said). Then I'd probably realise that kite surfing isn't all its cracked up to be........ He told me plenty of other lies too. He said he'd give me an idea of how difficult flying kitesurfing kites would be. He took out a 4m trainer (nothing like a kitesurfing kite, it had 2 handles no harness or depower or QR or anything like that). he rolled it out ( in a dodgy place, on the beach but right near the fence and path and trees and people even though Kirra has an almost desert sized beach of free space), launched it, handed it to me and told me to start looping it. He said loop it right by pulling on your right hand then let it out and loop it left by pulling in you other hand. I was keen as, knowing no better at the time. I looped as instructed and felt the enormity of power that can come from looping a 4m foil in decent wind. He of cause used this to prove his point, saying, "feel the power in that and see how you couldn't hold your ground. Now imagine doing that with a 12m kite, that's what shops sell complete beginners. That's why there is so much second had kitesurfing stuff that says bearly used. Its too hard unless you already have very good kite skills and excellent boarding skills. That's why i tell people they need to ride these skate boards. you see you really need excellent board skills to be able to edge against the power of a 12 m kite. you know now that you can make yourself skid on the sand with a 4 m."
Luckily I asked others. And now kite every chance I get despite not being a world class wake boarder and power kite flyer first. How much of a legend must I be.....
And I know I can't change his attitude and arrogance as I've tried and only been made fun of in PM's.
Also that last video is clearly advertising as it ends with his name and business name even though he's not even in it. Laurie.. Ban this guy. He is bad for our sport.
My only plan is to red thumb and ignore his threads. (gotta let others beware though) So I guess I'll just try to be satisfied by giving him the red thumbing and virtual frowning of a life time...

Sorry for the essay but people were doing what people do, forgiving and forgetting. Both of which are great unless the same problems keep occurring. Which it has. Free old Alex moves onto the next innocent beach or school, that's right, school and pushes his lies.
ps i'm no shop or nothing. I just know the guy. He needs to start considering other people.
