Anyone have any ideas on how to stop water shooting up the leg of your wetsuit?

I was going to suggest wearing high ankle booties over the wetsuit to go with boardies on top... but I know where that will end this thread at

Will try and sort some velcro system out - what brand and type was your wettie Charl??

a nice lacey ankle garter
matching boardies and neoprene Scarf with some world war 1 flying googles ALL over the top of yur wetty of course.
Not sure if that will stop the wobbly water filled back leg look, but at least it will draw the eye away from it.

The best way is to eat heaps and put on weight so it becomes tight...
and then continually pee in it to keep you warm.....Thats what I do ...lol

Need to stop the water coming in though - got a new rip curl wettie and its super stretchy - which means it holds twice as much water as before...

Lance go to your closest Bunnings, look for a box of Velcro band fasteners Adjustable Wrap. It's 20 bucks for 5m, so if you lose them just cut another to length. It's good for other little jobs around the house and stuff.

Probably best to go straight up and ask one of those workers that try and make it look like he's busy so you don't bother him.(I hate that)It took me a fair while to locate it, just save yourself half hour.

This stuff is only 25mm wide and serves me well. I do believe you can get wide stuff from spot light, but it's not necessary

Hope that helps mate

just use legrope collars, or the old style wrist safety leash goes around the ankle a treat. don't forget to undo them BEFORE you take off your wettie

i have a GUL wetsuit, kite specific. you can just get a velcro strip with the fluffy stuff one side n pointy stuff on the other and strap em round your ankles

beacuse i'm a pu55y i wear o'neill (irony!) booties to avoid getting my feet cut up. underneath them i wear a pair of socks because they get properly uncomfortable after a while on your feet

i tuck the socks underneath the wetsuit and no longer get the baggy calf feeling of 4L of water hanging around my legs. the socks are porous so any water that goes down your wettie (or up, from below) just seeps out through the sock and doesn't stay caught in there. works a treat and my feet stay pretty damn warm even in winter

Lol my dog ate one of our chooks for the first time today. Lance I rekon your wettie is too big mate. Maybe u should put drain holes in it if u are velcroing the legs? Wetties can be anchors if they fill with water and have nowhere to drain.

The wettie itself is great so going to try the velcro.. that elastomax 2 or what ever it is streches more than a chewy on the road on a 40 degree day... it can really take a lot of water in...

If anyone out there has a need for wetsuit repair though contact JiP he has turned out to be one hell of a seamstress (dunno what the bloke term is JP so you can get me back tomorrow!) He even had the green thread to match his wettie... I was impressed

I went with the leg rope cuffs and velcro for a couple of seasons,it became too much of a hassle, I then simply cut two "v" holes, like sergent stripes, in the lower part of the wettie, about 10cm apart, and 5cm from the bottom of the ankle line, works a treat, great for surfing too!!

If elephantitis legs get you down, you can try getting one of those holepunchers and put a hole about 5-10cm from the bottom of your leg, It seems a shame to waste all that warm urine but.

Spoken like a true medico Dave ... urine is a mans best friend on a day like today.. unless you are wearing a seat harness and it cant escape for hours on end

When are you back down this way next?

pi**ing in your wettie makes you smell like a seal too, just what you need in those cold southern waters
