Been trying to classify my riding style. Doesn't seem to be a term for my style of riding.

I love the waves but not in the traditional surfboard sence. I'm not to keen running underpowered chasing an everlasting down the line just like a surfboar feeling. I'm not a freestyler or wake styler.

I like to be powered and go fast, jump long and attack the wave like its my own personal jump park. i'll smash out through the waves the faster i can go the better. If i can hit that ramp with max speed and then fly through the air with a massive tweeky style and then landing super soft but still fast i'm in heaven. than i'll ride the waves like burm. carve em up jump around on them,... love it.

I'm not mowing the lawn. not just cruising around which is what i'd call freeriding.

what is my style called?

Hey Plummet, great to hear that there others like me , out there ! I can not help with defining your style mate but can relate to your enjoyment of a combined wave, jump, kite loop, session , I dont want to be the next Ben Wilson. I just want to kite and have fun in a way that makes me smile and on the odd occasion when the conditions allow laugh like an insane fool, I have to smile when kiteing friends that feel compelled to tell me how i need to be strapless on a surf board, I think no rules should apply unless we are in competition then a level playing field is imperative , just kite and let kite ,cheers JGF

Yep it's called freeride plummet and we share a very similar style. I throw in the transition rolls with kite loops, backward and forward, downloop and forward loop with the very occasional mega loop which scares the crap out of me and I vow to never do again. It's all hooked in.

But you are not alone. Kook style hey. Watched another strapless surfboard rider the other day mowing the lawn, surfing the merger summer swell that comes through....now he did look like a kook!! No offence of course you have to practise strapless for when you do get the occasional swell I know.

thats freeride mate. I'm the same, love to ride fast, boost big, carve hard and smash small to medium size waves. I'm not interested in wearing boots and doing spinny dangle tricks on flat water-BORING, nor riding sb's strapless, it just dosen't appeal to me. I just can't get enough of using the local breaks as my own personal amusment park. I know I might not be seen as cool by all the local sheep riding strapless, but who gives a f@#k, I'm getting bigger air than any of them and catching just as many waves, and sure as sh!t having as much fun as anybody out there. Thats the most important thing right!

Plummet - in your heart you know its called double fronted gumboot style lol

Check out Mitu Monteiro Fone rider vids, he calls it "FunStyle" strapped unstrapped hooked unhooked slow fast, big wave small wave, tricks and jumps all in one - he busts it no style except Funstyle... The other names sound like they theyve missed something now dont they :)

What better name can you call it ..

Really it is your own personal 'style'. When you do your downwinders, do you go with others, do you stay with your group, or are you of doing your own thing?

How many 'clicks' do you cover, as the crow flies, on your downwinder?
