If you were to kiteboard somewhere where the ground is abit rough or rocky are there any specific booties that would suit kiting to protect your feet.

cheers

Neoprene Dive Boots may handy in that case. I normally wear them scuba diving to keep feet warm/cut free, or when walking over rocky areas to get to a good fishing spot. Havent had to wear them yet kiting. Spose it depends on the site.

Soak them in a mix of vinegar and warm water. Works as well as Sink the Stink and cost farcall.

i agree with the bare foot comment too... i tried to wear boots when i first started but you dont get the feel for the board like you do with out.
if you cant walk bare foot where you are kiting you shouldnt be kiting there.

Most of the booties designed for surfing are pretty good. They are thin enough to get a feel of the board through them and thick enough to protect your feet. Dive booties seem to have a very solid sole on them and you can't feel your board with them.
I personally hate wearing booties and only strap them on for areas that are renowned for sea urchins or oyster shells!

I use O'Neill Superfreak booties for kiting in winter and anywhere that slices my feet up.
They came in very handy whilst learning to kite as i was forever getting my feet shredded whilst being involuntarily hauled down the beach. These days my feet spend so little time on the ground i don't bother with them, but have kept them for those bloody cold Melbourne winter sessions.

I use them 5-6 months of the year to keep myself warm and when ever I'm doing a downwinder in case I have to come in before my destination, as it will be a jagged, rocky **** of a place to come in.

I wear Mystic booties, they work well. Just don't leave them in the car after a session if the suns shining.

I might try that vinegar thing if I can ever be stuffed pampering my booties.

I think you might have just limited yourself to subtropical, sandy locations with that comment. Barefoot is best, but not at the expense of shredded feet or 15 urchin spines in your foot....not to mention stonefish, coneshells....

reefwalker/surfing type, thinner the better with flexible soles and split toe. O'neil do a good one, so do Rip Curl. You still get the odd urchin spine through, but that is manageable. Forget dive boots, might as well wear your steelcaps.

Get booties with a split toe in them if you can. That way you can curl your toes to grip your footpads a bit better.

I have West booties with with an enclosed split toe and they work fine, they have velcro straps on them to stop them slipping off your feet when they get water in them.

Got to say, parallels between wearing a condom and riding bareback have to be made though... ;-)
