Hi Guys,

After several injury set backs, I plan to have an epic summer of kitiing which includes a trip to South Africa at the end of the year.

I desperately need a new quiver and I was set on an 8 and a 12 ozone c4. I have been checking out BWS kites and I would like to support an Aussie company. My riding is 50% free style and 50% waves/ old school, from all the advertisign they look 100% surf style. Can anyone comment on how they ride freestyle and also what the bar pressure is like.

I have read the some previous correspondence however I would just like the options of someone who rides the latest model Noise kites.

Cheers in advance.

Noise or a C4 man, you really need to consider what you want. They are miles apart in what they are designed for. Based on your 50/50 synopsis the c4 mate, noise is a wave kite period.

I just bought a 2012 9m & 12m C4 and while I have only had a couple of sessions in the surf and 1 on flat water they seem to perform quite well. Wind wasn't strong enough for boosting though. I ride mostly in flat water in summer and surf in winter hoping to progress with unhooked, looping, and some DTL wave riding on a regular SB soon. I didn't want a pure wave kite and based on the reviews I'd seen from Djdojo and Plummet they look like the perfect kite for me.

The BWS as far as I know is more focused on the wave aspect and would be better compared to Ozones Catalyst or Reo which could be options for you. I have seen a couple of BWS kiters out in the flats and I'm sure they are also a good freestyle performer however that's not what they were designed for.

It also depends on your style of surf riding. If you just want to hit kickers and boost then consider the C4.

BWS versus a reo as a wave kite...depends again on your style of surfing and you conditions i would say. BWS is not a freestyle kite, but a good kiter can make anything work I would say.

Hi James, others have clarified the differences between these kites so I won't add to that. However in the C4s you may want to consider a 12/9 quiver which is what I ride and it keeps me in a very large sweet zone. The 9s have serious top end and then you get generous overlap too.

For waveriding I'd suggest the freeride bridle setting and for twintip work the new school setting. If it's crazy gusty I sometimes use the freeride setting on the twintip too as it offers more depower.

Check out this thread from djdojo: (hope they don't mind me quoting it.)

www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Kitesurfing/Review/2012-Ozone-C4-12m-and-9m/

I probably wouldn't push it much past 30kts myself using a TT and I weigh about 80kgs. I have a 7m for higher winds although generally I don't go out in these conditions as they are usually a bit sketchy (stormy southerlies and big swells) around my area.

For 75-85kgs I the 9m and 12m is a good spread for NSW winds and probably much the same for QLD. Before I had a 7m and 11m and there was too much gap between them. I've heard 4m gap is doable for the C4 but not ideal.
