Dont mind my airush pads, when I land I slip further into them rather than out of them.

Yep, no doubt, Airush pads are the best pads out there for comfort and grip.

The underground ones are excellent. you can get them in two levels of spongyness too.
I bruised my heel last year and can still feel it some days but these pads are like landing on a pillow even from heavy kiteloop landings.

Hey Saffer,

Can't say I have. I've seen em, but not ridden em. It's pretty hard to get around and ride every board.

I also rate the Aboards pads, also nice and comfy!

Yep the cardboard pad/integrated strap system works well and is the pads are constructed out of the same cushy stuff as the underground boards and LF pads. Also I found them to be the only straps out there that you can actually tighten them so much you cut your circulation off from your feet, soo many straps out there IMO that the tightest you can make them just isn't tight enough. Obviously you want circulation so you can loosen them a little but it is nice to have area on either side of the spectrum to work with, too tight and too loose. Compared to most straps which are almost tight enough or loosey gooesy.

I have a cardboard. Replaced the straps and pads to the LF's. The new pro comp are incomparable to most straps and pads on the market right now, but unfortunately they have a price tag that goes with them.

Saffer did you have 07 strap setup? The 08 cardboard ones are very similar to the LF feel and are very comfortable. If I were unbiased my top three picks would be cardboards, LF and underground, can't go wrong with any of them but from what I have seen on the beaches the underground straps break quite often and do not offer the same range of adjustability to make sure your foot fits snug (for me anyway). So it's really between cardboards and LF so I guess it's personal choice and how much you want to pay.

I went from the LF luxuries to the comp laces & was a little disappointed with them. I got pressure points with the comp laces that I didn't get with the luxuries. Also the laces tended to work their way loose, and that plastic thing that was supposed to hold the laces out of the way is completely useless.

Now I have the 08 cardboards & I agree, they are just as good as LF's. The adjustability of the straps is really nice.

I found the nobile pads and straps on their current boards, (07 and 08) to be the go for me. They are definately made suit a foot shape and not something that your foot can just be in. My feet don't feel loose ever, and the pads are very cushy. Much, much better than others I've tried.

i found i really liked the COMP straps.. they light and they fit tight and snug around your feet, they have very good grip 2.. it was probably one of the only straps ive used where my feet wouldnt slide out of easily. the pads not the softest of all soft and the Luxury pads probably softer but i think the slightly firmer pad makes ur foot stay in better as when the soft pads compress the strap feels like it loosens etc. bt the firmer pads are still hell soft to land on.

airush pads are just too chunky though, nice n comfy and all pretty good grip etc but they are heavy and cluttery and after a while they compress up and become rock solid under ur heels, if u like airush ifound the 08 pads with the 07 straps had the best holding ability.

I didnt like the ones that came with my naish haze so changed them with a set of Liquid force comp lace and love them. Way more comfy and the heel strap help keeps my feet in when there are rough conditions.

The latest ones. It was on an 08 cardboard (I.e. the ones that come with the little tool inside the straps)

I agree with Saffer the Liquid Force Comp Lace pads are by far the best I have tried for comfort and padding. The straps however, are a ****, the adjustment thingy works but once you have it adjusted you dont ever need to touch it again I have not adjusted mine since the first week I got them (once the novelty wears off )

And as TonyM said that little plastic thing is a kitemare it keeps coming loose it bounces around your feet and sometimes even ends up under your heal. Not a good feeling when you are 30ft up and are coming down fast. A bruised heal takes a long time to heal.

So.................... dislike the straps but love the pads

I'm on my 3rd TT in 2 1/2 years and have ridden 3 others (M3, Slingshot and Cabrinha). I would have to say my best ones so far are on my 08 Cardboards and second best would be the new Cabrinha ones on the Cabrinha custom. I like to ride with my footstraps loose and I get heaps of grip with the Cardboards even when they are a bit loose. My worst so far would be on the Airush Hammer which is a pity because it is such a nice board to ride in surf.

Had the same problem so I left my heel straps on and wrap the strap around it to stop it coming loose. It seems it only comes loose when its long and hanging around and this seems to have solved the problem completely. I'll send you a picture if you are not sure what I mean.

what's this little tool thing... i got an '08 cardbaord, no little tool thing on the footstrap, i feel ripped off...... both foot pads have come loose multiple times whilst riding, and i've had to come in, land, and bolt over the dunes to the local engineering shop and ask if i can borrow an allen key to tighten back up.... and now my deck is scratched to fark from the screws when the foot pads slip...

thanks saffer but I think I have got it sorted now
. ( ie I replaced the straps with nobile ones )

I had to swap it over as I broke one of the straps a few weeks ago had a very very hard landing from which my knee is still recovering.
Funny thing is the strap broke close to the middle not where it attaches to the board and looking at it know I cannot understand how I managed to get away without breaking any bones. It must have been a ship load of force to tear the strap.

harrytesties - there's a sleeve inside the strap for holding an allen key...you should have got a key with the straps. Maybe you need to try threadlock or something if the screws keep coming loose?

I was thinking of using the LF pads with the cardboard 08 straps, I think this would be the best combo.

harrytesties - use locktite in the screw holes because then they will never come out and if you do want them out put hot water on them and unscrew them. you will hear a crack but that is just the glue breaking.

Also i reckon the cabrinha wideboy footstraps and pads are by far the best fitting to the foot and are super comfy and cushiony and take away soo mch of the landing impact

i love the lace up straps.. they soo grippy... as for the rope n toggle thingy swinging around.. adjust it.. then pull the rope through and cut it a little shorter so u dont have bulk excess hanging around.. i trimmed mine so that when tightened it can just comfortably reach the part where it sits in to stay out of the way and is too short to dangle between toes and heel etc.. besides iv never had mine come out

I think saffer was referring to the LF pro straps, which are a lace up design with a moulded arched strap, and the pads are the same as the LF luxury set that I think you are comparing to CB.
No problems with Underground straps breaking here and we do sell a lot of Underground?
There was an issue last year when the new design came out - the black plastic blocks on the sides could break due to a faulty batch, but they were all replaced (only a few here anyway).

Most comfy strap/pad combo IMO
Underground, - but make sure you get the right size strap they come in S/M/L
