Pelican Point is not recommended for beginners. Its an Intermediate to Advanced location. Wind direction is almost always S or SW, which measns direct onshore conditions straight onto the beach. It can also be turbulent wind close into the launch/landing area because of trees and buildings - meaning you could get pulled into the stone retaining wall. There is now a sign up (CALM/WAKSA) at the entrance to the grassed area next from the car park with all these details. Also check out www.waksa.org.au for the site guides.
Hope that helps
Graeme
