I know i am going to get slung for writing this but my first two kites were airush and i had the time of my life burning both of them :) that is my personal opinion and i am sure other people think differently. I just found they didnt handle aswell as some of their competing kites...

Hi graceful - here are the ratings from an airush site:
Size 120+ lbs 170+ lbs 200+ lbs
5.0 23-33 26-36 29-39
7.0 19-29 22-32 25-35
10.0 15-25 18-28 21-31
12.0 11-22 14-26 17-29
14.0 9-20 12-24 14-26
16.0 8-16 9-20 10-22

I would say though the real figures would be 3-4kts lower that shown - my 12 used to get my 200+ frame up and running around 14kts. They are decent kites, rather bombproof (check the seams on the struts though) but they have pretty heavy bar pressure - although there are lots of tips out there about how to lighten it.

I am quite a fan of the Vapor now and the LF Havoc - both have light bar pressure and a pleasure to ride... cant wait for the new Vapor II's to be released.

That said most of the kites now days are pretty sweet, people are obviously devoted to one brand or another so get a demo ride on one if you can to test the water!

Bear in mind also that Perth open water spots will generally subtract a couple of knots from the effective windspeed with a sweeping current. Where are you located (fill in your profile )?

I found the wind range similar to Lance - I weigh about the same.

They are good kites, although the 08 is better, more refined - but that is understandable, and an 08 will cost you more. They have heaps of low end and great depower.

Use the stopper ball to help manage the bar pressure, it makes a lot of difference.

There is a thread on the bridle mods and results here: www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=32145

Don't take it for granted that all will be well after a mod - test it in safe conditions with assistance first to ensure all is well with the kite.

mate I had a 2007 flow 10m, got it new as a beginner last season. After one season on it I figured that the bar pressure was really bad and the kite was not easy to manage and not very predictable. Also, the 07 flow is not a one-pump kite which really sucks.
I got rid of it and got a cabrinha switchblade 3 this season, best thing I have ever done.
I would guess that a switchblade 2 (2007) second hand would be about the same price as a 2007 flow, and well worth looking into.

I wouldn't worry too much about wind-range though, you can go up and down the knots on the rear lines as required and use the de-power strap.
Feel free to PM me if you want any more of my thoughts on the FLow 07 and what I found as a beginner.
