Hey guys, just wondering iv read a few things across the net that say the north rebel dont have as good wind range as say the ozone edge? In in the market for a 9m2 kite. Got my eyes on the rev2 or rebel 09. I just wanted to know if what i have read about the norths kites are true? From personal experience ect.

man as a doctor, let me just say, for you to have fifteen winds is just not healthy.. becareful you don't blow out your poo-fer valve

im 50 kg and ride a 9m rev from 13knts to about 25knts.
i would recomend an 11m, even if its not the rev.

Im 95kg and when im out on my 7m waroo, fully powered in 30mph winds, a fellow kiter who is around 70kg is out on his 12m rebel, when im on my 13m waroo struggling to get upwind hes still on his rebel well powered. And he is not a young strong kiter, he is 72 years old. A good wind range from 1 kite me thinks.

cheers fellas, ADEN realistically the 15knts i mention is really the low end of the wind range. I have been told 25knts plus of NE wind blows down my way (south coast) I faintly remember when i was flying my trainer every arvo last year the NE'r winds causing the sand to sting the **** out of my legs on the beach.

I have a 11m waroo now, but some people have told me for the conditions that blow occur down here i will need a 9m and even some days a 7m

I would say a 10 for 15kts... the problem being if you got a 9 or eight, your not going to be that powered until it hits 18 -20 or so.... with a 10 you would be good at 15

And most bows have a lot more pull when unhooked for their size versus a c - kite so something else to think about. maybe a 9 if lots of unhooking?

but whats the point of riding a 12 m kite in 30 knots ? There is no steering without getting ripped off your edge - and your jumps are just 4 ft high downwind poo man accelerators (bit like those pics of dolls point)

And in a real 30 knots? - forget it... most crew are struggling to hold a 12 in a genuine 23 knots

This topic always comes up and crew continue to make outrageous claims -

the real fun in strong wind is in taming that small fast 9 - 7 m kite with the wicked vertical acceleration.

im in begginer stages at the moment, but once competent i will be un hooking alot and attempting tricks ect. I think ill definatley go the 9m in either the rebel or the rev2. Going to try and demo them both to see what one will be the decider!

Ride a 13m REV in under 10 knots. and an 11m REV from 10 to 15 knots. my 9m REV from 15 to 25. then 7m REV 25 to 35.(im 50ish kg's).

hope this helps with wind ranges.

I have ridden the new 09 rebels and am the same weight as you. Now the 09 rebel has more low end than the 08 and about the same top end as the 08 the relaunch is easier again. They are very user friendly kite and if you go with a rebel i'm sure it won't disappoint you.

as outragous as it may seem there are other members that will support my claim...
You can depower your kite and move pigtails.

A common mis-conception is that if it gets too windy you change kite.. if it gets windy.. pull your depower.. then if your getting lofted off the ground and carnt stand on the ground.. then its too windy

Never rode the 9m rhino but the 12m was grunty enough to rip me a new ass hole

I got me a 14mtr, it rocks. Very nice kite for a bigger guy. My ass hole getting a little ripped too. But i no care

Nah not yet don't even think there is one is Aus at the moment unless JB is hiding it, I have now changed for North to Naish but i still get to fly all the north gear when it comes out so when i get a chance to ride it I'll put up my thoughts on it.
