i know we're not meant to abuse anyone here on this site, and i don't mean to.... this is just general helpful advice from first hand experience of my times kiting off windang..seeing yellow arrows, i knew i could be there and rigged up in an hour, hour and half at the most, being optomistic anyway, i'm not revealing my location.. got there, bellambi was showing 17kts on the net, believe me windangs not going off! the wind comes over this medium but long sand dune, after already being corupted by the head land at the entrance, add to this a whopping friggin island and what you've got is squarlly, gusty winds cutting the beach in half..want good wind, no problem, make it past the hundred yard dead spot, thanks to the island, and you'll have all the free wind you want, you'll only be almost a kay out,if you go on a weekend the tourists climbing the island can point out the sharks for you, while the locals steal all your gear off the beach and the change out of your car by putting the window down with a brick..i enjoy kiting, i like to see people enjoy kiting, what i don't like is being abused for not retrieving some bogan dork beginners board for the tenth time in as many minutes, or having local dingle dangles crash in on me from up wind, screaming and yaahoo-ing like they rip...over zealous life guards? windangs got them by the motorised four wheel bike full, the same moron run over kite lines all day long, i asked one of the locals, inbetween being hit upon and psychologically scarred for life by this fifty year old piece of chain smoking leather, and he says that it happens all the time..last time i was there someone was murdered on the sand dunes where you rig up..the locals didn't care, and i know life's cheap... they just hoped it was one of the junkies from the flats near the carpark... yeah windang goes off... goes off like a bag of prawns in the sun...

thanks for that scientifically sound and unbiased report - the less people who go there the more room there is for the rest of us!

I rode there once and loved the place. Flat water south of the Island, waves to the North and you have the lagoon on the inside. I found the locals very friendly. Remember it's the silly season and you will get allot more thieves and undesirables at any location. My opinion it's a hidden gem.

Hmmmm.... I smell an attempt to get people to stay away from kiting the 'dang....
Good comedy value at least...
