hey fellow kiters!!!It's school holidays now so the lifeguards have put flags up the north end of warilla beach and will stay up i think till winter. Please only come here if you are experienced and can stay up wind. This time of year is a no go for beginners with big kites cause it is much too dangerous as there are too many people on the beach to wipe out.Yesterday a beginner was spotted rigging up,the lifeguard warned him not to launch,a local kiter had also warned him of the dangers, newbie replies'I've done wakeboarding,i just need to put the two sports together".The local kiter told lifeguards to make him not launch but there was nothing they could do as they had already warned him. He launches, newbie's mate comes over to assist,as they both hold the bar,the kite now goes out of control, and powerdives onto an innocent bystander, the lines give the girl a massive rope burn accross her chest.luckily she wasn't killed. This is was an avoidable situation! The local kiters have a good thing going with the lifeguards. Please don't teach people here unless they have a trainer kite.Experienced riders are no problem here, but learners should listen to the advice of other kiters, and get lessons at kitepower or or Warren Holder at Geroa, before you take on a big kite.
PLEASE PASS THIS ON!!!

the guy instructing was a shocker .... i was kiting and witnessed the guy holding onto the bar and his (so called) instructor holding onto his harness get launched superman style downwind. The instructor ran half way down the lines and tried to control the spiralling kite holding onto the lines with his bare hands ! Lucky the female was mostly shaken not seriously injured.
