10-20kts NE 4-5 days a week, or so they tell me. I'll be around that area for 7 days around new years and expect to be mostly on my 17 (being approx 110kg). Can't tell you anything from firsthand experience, except that one of my first sessions as a learner was out in the surf in 15 kts SE (on 17m) in March at a beach between Byron Bay and Tweed Heads. Would have been good if I knew how to ride then. Got smashed.

if your going to drive down to byron go the extra nine yards(or 15km) and go down to lennox head. some of the best sailing/kiting on the east coast and there is some talent there as well

Life is but a dream, from which we all must wake.

the thing is, I wanna know what size to buy, I used to ride a 9m² Naish R3 back home in europe, is that about the right size for the conditions here? What sizes do you guys ride around brisbane?

Anything from a 10 to 15 is the average kite for me at this time of year. @90kg. I kite in Bris at least 5 days aweek but the weather is crap at the moment. I have been on my new 12m for the majority in the last couple of weeks.
