Hey, was hoping If I could get some advice about buying a second hand kite.

Was looking at the 12m/9m Liquid Force Session 2008. Would this be a good first kite? I'm not very experienced. I have taken a lesson and know how to fly a kite, and can go upwind sometimes. Been using my brothers kite but now need my own.

Would the 12m or the 9m be better for conditions in Sydney/Wollongong.
Does the Session 2008 go upwind easily?
Is it a beginner friendly kite?

If anyone has used this kite, any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Peter

Hi Wulfgur,

I am 70kg, and kite in both Sydney and Wollongong. I have a 10m kite (Switchblade IDS) which gets me going in 17knots with a top end of about 27knots. I am currently looking for a smaller kite about a 7m which willl get going from about 24knots to 35knots.

A 12m kite will get you going about 14-15knots, and probably get you a top end of 24-25knots.
A 9m kite, probably good at 20 knots to about 30knots.

I am not sure of the LF Session kites, as I haven't ridden one.

i like LF kites the only downside with them is they dont have below the bar safety but that isn't essential.... the sessions are good kites. i have only ever had problems with strings breaking except for a learner that wouldnt be an issue

I have a 2009 Griffin 9m for sale. It is a very good kite with massive range. it's my only kite that i use and has amazing depower. If you plan to kite botany in the summer a 12 will be way too big!

I'm the same weight as you and am usually the first on the water. I would keep this kite but I will be helping griffin test the 2010 kites soon so need to part with this one. Let me know by PM and I can get you a good deal.
