I'm heading over from WA tomorrow to meet brother's family in Smiths Lake and wandered if it's worth taking my kite over for the week (7m/10m)? Any local knowledge appreciated. Cheers...

Hey Lonestar,
We holiday there every xmas and we just came back second week in Jan.
I windsurf there and it was excellent. The lake towards the sandbar is shallow up to chest deep and sandy bottom very enjoyable.
I sailed in a NE, Strong Easterly is great and a good South To South easterly is also great.
There where some kites out and to me they seemed to be doing great guns and if you like waves just walk the kite over the sand bank and you there, however you might be the only person in the wave if not confident enough just walk over the sandbar back to the lake.
If you feel the Smiths Lake is to short of a run then there is a short drive to Wallis lake this place is also excellent sandy for a good while then over weed and sand the rest of the way very long runs and you always can see the bottom.
So two lake to choose from you should have a great time
Kind regards
Walt
