I haven't heard anything up that way - so I doubt it - there might be a local willing to help. I've never been up there but hear good things about the kiting. Have you seen the spot and kiters? I'm looking for a destination out of town - so let me know how you get on.

No worries, will do.
Not far from Coffs Harbour up there, there's likely locals that know the area well.

I've just come back from a week at Arrawarra Headland (5min north) and the kiting was great.
I didn't really spend any time at Woolgoolga. I mostly kited at Mullawarra/Ocean view, sweet spot but i wouldn't consider that beach a good learning spot, you'll want to be comfortable with small waves and there's very little space if you're giving yourself margin for error from the southern headland and rocks at the north.
Arrawarra/Corrindi has heaps of space, lots of beach and most suitable for S-NE wind. Great spot and beginner friendly, especially at low tide.
Further up Station Creek beach was awesome, you can get there with a 4wd otherwise it's a bit of a walk from the camping spot.
I didn't see any other kiters in the week I was there, and most of that was sunny with 20 knots NE.
