First up, you'll definitely need a car to get around Sydney. The public transport system is dreadful. If you're going to Sydney Uni I would suggest looking for share accommodation around the Newtown area. It's very cosmopolitan, lots of bars, restaurants and other students. It's about a 15min drive to Botany Bay (Dolls Point). If you want less kaotic accommodation look at the suburbs along the train line to Cronulla. You will be close enough to the beach that way as well and Sydney Uni is on that rail line (Redfern).

When you're sorted out come down to Dolls Point. Drop into the Kitepower shop which is the best place to get orientated and meet the locals. Come summer time there's beer and pizza on the beach as the sun goes down. We're a pretty friendly lot and welcome new people as long as they play safe and respect other beach users.

Hi Again!

Thanks for your answers! I just came home from a really nice flatwater session in 25 knots but it is starting to get pretty cold here now, so it will be nice to switch to a warmer climate ;).


Antoine that sounds pretty interesting and I'm not the most picky person so some dirt in the corners doesn't bother me too much. I am arriving in Sydney on Sunday the 27th Oct so if it's possible I would be glad to check the place out some day after that.
