Hi

I've recently moved to Wollongong / Mt Ousley as a part of studying abroad for a year.

Are there any good spots for kitesurfing close to here? Have been to Windang a couple of times, but from where I'm currently staying it's a bit far considering that I can not access a car. How is North Beach for example?

If someone are heading out, either to Windang or somewhere else, I would be very thankful if I could come with you. My number is 0412270992.

Hey AquaFun,

From the sounds of your post, transport might be an issue so hooking up with locals is the go but please whatever you do, DON"T kite at North Beach.

There are literally heaps of other locations better without the crowd/crap downwind hazard etc, etc...

So far, there is a good relationship with WCC lifeguards as many surf and know quite a few kitesurfers. It's a good situation and its a small group that all know each other. City beaches are a no go zone..

Thanks for doing this thread..

Every kiting location has local transport, some of it free. Not hard to find....check your UOW book...

Hey there Truls
We met at Warilla about a month ago. Tony's spot on with his advice , we also have quite a good relationship with the lifeguards down our way .If you respect the swimmers and lifeguards it goes a long way to making the beach much friendlier for all. Im sure Gus will look after ya, your in good hands. Good luck mate

Reading the thread. No one said what beaches are best suited for kiting. What beaches are the life saver happy to have kites launched or flying at. I'm about to get some lessons just before Xmas trying to get some trainer kite time in. Living at Campbelltown ill be heading to the gong.

All help welcome

Hey everyone. I'm in wollongong as well and I just finished taking lessons in sydney and have been body dragging and practicing launching/landing in botany. I was wondering where you guys go and if I could join you one day. I would just feel more confident with some other people there, especially while i'm still learning.

I was thinking of going to the lake when I get my gear sorted (next week) to practice on the flat water ie, self rescue, water start, tacking etc.

Would you be kind enough to PM me next time you head out?

Thank you
