I hear you can kite Lake Burley Griffith and lake George if there is water in it but i don't think either spot is not for beginners. better idea to head to the coast I am moving to Canberra in september and will be doing coast runs to kite. Also I would search the forum for Canberra posts and reach out to local kiters. good luck Tim
Yipee Zarb, those round abouts in canberra look great and another choice spot would be that big grass hill in front of that building with the funny looking flag pole
