I'm moving down Sydney area for winter and to celebrate I'll get a new suit. To be used 80% surfing, 19% kiting, 1% flexing in the mirror/fancy dress parties. What kind of rubber is everyone donning down there. Would it be a ridiculous stretch to try and use a 2mm sealed short arm steamer?

Cheers for the input.

Hmmm it can get a bit chilly through winter. I would say a good 3/2 steamer for the middle of winter. Depends how tough you are!!

Hmmmm, coming from the Goldy and spending the last few winters in the tropics I'd say not very tough at all haha. When do you normally get out of them? Round sept oct I'm guessing?

Yeah usually around then. But for winter you will need to invest in a steamer, it can get a bit fresh!! The westerlys get cold with the wind chill. Just paddle around a lot to keep warm.

Xcel make a really good sealed steamer, I use mine throughout winter. They have a great warrenty an customer satisfaction. They can basically stretch around anything and not break. If they do end up ripping, send it back and they will fix it free of charge. You can buy them in Kitepower at Sydney

You could probably get away with your 2mm steamer ,especially if you have your own insulation. It really doesn't get that cold down here. Minimum water temp is about 16 degrees, but with wind chill can feel colder when kiting. A 3/2 is as much as I need, and I only wear that for about 3/4 months
