I was hoping to be able to make my 12m BWS kite work in 11-12 knots with a LF kite fish. I had those conditions yesterday along with a pretty good current going with the wind. I had to work the kite and I had to keep heading down wind to get my speed back up to stay up and riding. At 100kg is it realistic to think I can make that work and the current was the problem yesterday, or do I need a bigger kite for 11-12 knots?

Hey eab
Im also pretty new to kiting 80kg and using a BWS 10m. Probably about the same power to weight ratio as you?
I would say you're doing very well to keep going in 10 to 12 knots with downwind current and definitely staying upwind would be very difficult. IMO you definitely want a bigger kite for these winds.
I'm in similar position as I'm getting sick of all these 10 knot days we've been having in Sydney, just not enough for me on my BWS 10. I've been doing some research and top of my wish list ATM is a 17m Blade Fat Lady. I think when it gets light you really need to make a big size step up and light construction or kite falls out of sky.

Well the 12m BWS is a big 12 (more like 13 or 14??)
But at 10-12kn and 100 kegs you are probably going to need something bigger I'd say. 17-19m probably.

ok, what's the upper limit i should try with this kite? I had it out in about 25 knots today, it seemed like it could be done but a little scary for me. Had it de-powered about half way but couldn't find a sweet spot.
