I've got another board question bare with me please.

I started kiting around 6 weeks ago, started on a VanHunks Bucca 140x42, I'm 1.82cm and around 65kg. Now that I'm progressing a bit at the sport and started to do rolls etc. Would I find something like a 130-132 a lot easier and more suited to more freestyle type riding, or are the differences so marginal that those couple of cm's won't really be noticeable?

Hey Ed,

Doing better than me at the moment (mild back ouch and off the water).

Perhaps if you have a local kite shop that could help out with a freestyle board set up or wakestyle if that's where you want to get to, it may help?

Otherwise, maybe if the question was phrased like;

"What's the best progression board for back rolls, front rolls, I weigh X, I kite in X knts usually and I want to do ...., ....., and ....?", then the jokes may become useful info. Just sayin'.

Good luck and only 6 weeks! well done Hope this helps

After 6 weeks I traded in my aircraft carrier (145x45) and picked up a naish momentum secondhand (132x41) and never looked back. It feels like skateboard on my feet, easy to load and pop and dead easy to turn / change direction.

Upwind is also easy as long as there is enough wind .

Just do it

Hmm okay this is some good feedback now, I was thinking of keeping my Vanhunks Bucca 140 and adding a 127 Vanhunks Manakel, but maybe I'll get rid of the Bucca and replace it with a 132 Manakel. Thanks guys

Picked it up today and went straight to the beach, wind was nice and strong was out on my 6m Core GTS, first impressions of this board compared to my 140 Vanhunks Bucca, a bit more harder to waterstart, but that's a given on a 132 vs 140, nothing major just took 2-3 starts to get used to, the board is SUPER light haven't felt a kiteboard this light yet, and I've used a Naish thorn, Bucca and Cab Custom, little more unstable in the chop compared to the Bucca, but switches so much easier than the Bucca, just glides over the water when you need it to, and the best part is the pop off the board, noticeably better to the Bucca. This one has the new binding system which is a massive improvement to the previous model, plenty of adjustability, and the binding strap is big and shaped to your foot, its not just a straight strap so holds the foot down a lot better.

Useful advice and thoughts...

Going light wind on a 10m or 12m for 70kg, how big a board could you go? Or just save 139x40.... Trying to work out when/if to sell it...
