Heaps of girls kite, mostly because their boyfriends teach them. It's more about safety and technique, rather than raw strength.

Go hang out at a kite beach on a windy day and chat to a few talented guys.

The kiting community is generally really helpful and friendly, and judging by your profile pic you shouldn't have much trouble getting assistance.

hey cooper
maybe when the wind get up you should head down the coast to the illawarra
warrilla beach is a great spot and plenty of people to help in the progression.
but in the end just have fun and enjoy the ride

don't be scared :) just careful. the more you use the kite the more comfortable it becomes, and dont feel rushed to get up on the board, just take your kite out into the water and get to know it :D pretend its your pet tiger :P

My wife would love more girl kiters in our area. She does get to say she's the best female kiter around though, but that may be because she's the only one

G'day cooper86. search on facebook for "kite chicks" and "girls ride group" . Both sydney based girls only riding groups. Usually do clinics and camps + social events.

any more info talk to Anne at Windsurf n'Snow or Pryia where ever she has gone......

Make sure you do a search in facebook and not google, that second one might not get you the result you were hoping for

haha yeah i really tried to make kite boarding work but my hearts not in it anymore, was dating a guy who does it and he chose kite boarding over me among other things, yeah kiteboarding may be fun an all but its not gonna snuggle you when your at home or look after you when sick, hopefully one day ill get back into it, but it just reminds me of him atm.. :(

thanks for all your advice guys will be helpful for next time... haha yeah i wish i had found some cool girls in Sydney to support me but oh well

will definitely check the facebook links....:)

thanks guys you have been great continue doing what you love but dont give up the one you love for it :)

Yeah but you should always do something because you are passionnate about it not because your boyfriend does it.

I don't get why it came down to deciding between a relationship or kiting? I kite 3-4 times a week and have an awesome girlfriend who I see 3-4 times a week and it works fine.

Kiting keeps me fit, healthy, tanned and excited about life so she supports my addiction and understands if I have to suddenly catch the wind, even if we have plans. Ive been teaching her on my 2m training kite and now she loves cranking one handed kite loops on it. Now its time to get here some big kite lessons.

I suspect you are one of those high maintenance, needy girls who always wants it her way (not saying you are). If so, I suggest you lighten up, stop over thinking everything so much, give your guy some room to move and see how much better it feels to be in an equal, trusting relationship with the feeling of fun, freedom and wind in your hair!
