Just wondering weather or not to buy one.... it has obvious danger attached but also has such convenience! i could have done with one when i had to do an emergency packdown and lost my board upwind, (later found board).... but i do some jumps to often endng up gettin smashed into the water ha and my board off.... here i guess is the potential danger of being hit in the head...

God no. One thing you can to to help is the moment you come up after a crash is to look to shore. Pick an object to orient yourslef to so you know where you are and you'll have an idea of where your board will be. Saves a lot of body dragging if you have some idea where to look.

It sucks losing gear but if you ride at a long beach in cross onshore winds, you should always be able to recover it. The fins on your board (North Xride, same as me) are sharp enough to slice a tomato.

There is no danger whatsoever, they are absolutely great, what we would do without them.My advice is to get one in a hurry and have FUN.

I hope to god cezary was joking. Forget the leash as your better off looking for your board than looking for your teeth or a chunk of your of your face. There is a thread in maby the general forum with some pics that will make your mind up for you.

There maybe excuses to have a board leash, but there is definitely NO reason to have one.

Plus one big reason NOT to have one. Your LIFE.

There was a couple of people riding with board leashes at rosebud yesterday, now I don't know if it was a confidence thing, but i an see absolutley no point in using them, let alone un that situation. For those not familiar with the location, yesterday was onshore wind, plus water was no more than knee deep till you were out several hundred metres. No need to even body drag, just walk back upwind to your board. Just seems like laziness sometimes

I would rather body drag for two minutes than wonder if my board was on track to crack my skull at any second.
