Hey.
I'm heading over to the Central Coast on a holiday from WA during the Christmas break and was looking to continue practicing. Is Budgewoi a suitable spot for a real beginner (inconsistent waterstarts, frequent stacks and I own the walk of shame)?

I'm gonna get a lot more practice in once the seabreeze kicks in over here but I cant imagine I'll be brilliant by Christmas.

If Budgewoi isn't suitable can anyone suggest a better spot for a beginner?

Cheers

Check out the NSW KBA locations map:

http://www.nswkba.com.au/locations/

It says Budgewoi is good on the surfside. Picnic point a bit further south is a good spot in Westerly's... but over xmas you'll have NE's most days.

Norah Head, 5k's south of Budgewoi is the spot to go in an on shore breeze. It is a surfside spot with protection from a reef about 200 metres off the beach

Budgewoi has a great camp site on the lake and I am pretty sure Norah Head does as well (my grandfather caravaned there for 40 years).

The beach area is about 1km north of the norah head light house. You can see the protected 'rock reef' area quite clearly using Google earth.

On google maps is that the spot where Werepi street is, just south of the lakes surf club?
I usually go from picnic point at the entrance in a NE's (if its strong enough) but looking to transition into surf. Is this spot ok for a beginner?

Towoon Bay is perfect for beginners. I nice protected bay that is gets anything from Nth through to Sth winds. It is right at the entrance. Good flat water and a small reef break at the entrance to the bay if you want to get more adventurous.

Perfect for beginners in a north easterly. The worst you can is get blown back the beach, which I have done already.

Hi,Budgewoi is a good flat water spot, waist deep, and works through summer in nor Easters. It is however onshore and although safe to fly with good launching this must be taken into account.I will be instructing there over summer in conjunction with kite and sup and Liquid Force if you need some help.Cheers
