Have recently become hooked on kitesurfing and I am now looking at buying all the gear I need. Can you please give me some advice as to what kite, board, harness etc?

Not really sure what to look for in gear any help would be great.

Thanks.

Wouldn't have a clue without some important information
Weight?
Conditions?
General wind strengths ?
Anyone who gives you recommendations without this info is a toss pot

Everything's in your favour , lightweight, flat water and steady winds, nearly all brands do a great and safe starter to intermediate kite, are you up and riding, if so around 134 ish on board length, if not a bigger board will help, as for kites some kites are more powerfull than others even at the same m2, something like a switchblade , rebel, has a bit more get up and go than say a catalyst, so you may want to go up a mtr or 2 , a slightly larger kite reacts slower , making a more friendly learning option, also some kites have massive depower compared to others allowing you to ride in stronger conditions, manufacturers guidelines tend to over do the bottom end and are generally over cautious in the top end, IMO you can add a few knts to both scales, a decent powered 10 or a lower powered 12 would be about it,

There's lots of rivers around mate
What I would recommend in terms size varies depending on climate
FNQ would be different to Albany WA

@Lash

The best thing you can do is head into your local shop and talk to the guys. Forums will lead to a bunch of guys telling you what they ride and that's not always the most helpful. Look for a friendly 3 strut all around kite. Nothing specific to start. This will lead to the best progression for you. And never be afraid to get some extra lessons, not only will you get some more detailed instruction but you can also ask to try certain kites. If someone comes into our shop and is looking at to buy a certain model of kite and they are taking a lesson, I will happily give one of the demo kites to the instructor so the student can try it in a controlled environment. But yes, give us some more specifics of your local conditions so we can help better!
