Hi,
I'm a total NOOB looking to get into kite surfing, with the emphasis on surfing.
I'm 51 years old, 90 kg and have been surfing for 40 years, done a bit of sailing etc.
I have been thinking that I'd like to get out in 10 - 20 knots of wind, if that's enough?
At 10 - 15 the surf is not too blown out to still have a bit of form, i figure?
Any how, I went to a shop and was advised that 12 metres was my size, what do you guys say?
I am only planning on owning one kite, and probably one surf type board? Can I get away ok with that?
Appreciate any help.
Thanks,
Ken.

I'd probably go bigger, maybe a 15 or even a 17m if you're only going out in that wind. I'm 85kgs and I am fine on a 15m plus a surfboard in 10-15 knots. I Started on an old normal surf board and then got a kite surfboard and have only been using that, I only play around in the bay chop or small waves so I'm not sure if one board would work for you.

Hi Kenny,
Forget 10kts for a 12mt. A 12 will do it particularly once you get past basic noob stuff, but for your weight 15-20 kts would be good for learning. 18 - 23 kts is probably the sweet spot for a 12mt once your advanced a bit. I started at 49yo and 96kg on a 13mt, now I ride 11 & 9 but am 89kgs now.
Once you get the bug you'll be looking for 15 - 25kts and a 12 will eat it.
