A newbee lost his board to the tide at Dolls the other day about 100m out from shore. I sailed past and picked it up, intent on dropping it down wind so he could body drag to it easily.
The guy saw I had his board so decided to body drag back to shore, leaving me out the back with his board. The wind was a bit light and it was difficult to sine the kite one handed while carrying the board. I took it back to shore, but it was not easy.
Lesson 1. If someone picks up your board don't assume they'll take it back to the beach. I did because that's the sort of person I am. Maybe not everyone would be so considerate.
Lesson 2. Assume they will drop your board near you down wind so keep your kite away from the retriever.
