Those two lines (red and black) that look like "call a butler" lines. How do they work (IDS versions and older)?

I had a close look at one and tied the bar lines to a tree to test. I noticed that when I pulled the red line, the tension was held there when I leaned back and held tension. But when I pulled the black line, the tension was suddenly gone and the whol thing "stretched" itself to what I think is full powered. I thought the red was meant to mean full power, not the black (unless someone switched the balls around?).

Thanks

Gday kazan, tie them to something and hook chickenloop to your harness and walk back till lines are tight, while keeping lines tight pull on the black a couple of times should give full power and lines should be same length (bar should be near chickenloop and all lines tight) and red depowers (shortens front lines so steering lines may go slack)

Marty is right, Cabrinha has kept the theme of "OH SH1T" pull the red thing!
"De power", "quick release 1" and "quick release 2" are all RED
Hope this helps

EDIT: BTW, All lines should be the same length when the centre lines are at full power (pull the black and let them all the way out) The centre lines tend to stretch over time so I check mine a couple times a season.

Thanks guys. That all made sense.
I have the old powerdrive 121 system and was wondering what real benefit is there between it and the PD221 system?
Finally is it possible to convert the PD121 to have a centre line safety release system like the newer bars? thanks
