Are there any other recommended kite beaches up in the cairns area?

Is there anywhere up there that has council trouble, or banned kite beaches?

Just trying not to step on any toes, while still being able to get a place walking distance to a kite-able location. :)

Thanks in advance for your help. :)

Walking distance? LOL

There is nothing in Cairns that is walking distance, unless you're in the CBD.

What's wrong with Yorkies anyway? Great people. Great location and plenty of room for everyone.

Are you shy? And where are you walking from?

Yeah, very shy.

my gut goes in knots with other kites on the water... I'm sure I'll cross lines, cyclone and hurt someone...

at the same time though, I want to be able to pop my eyes open and listen for the wind/check SB and be out the door to the sand asap. The only way I'll get any better/braver is by doing it, I reckon.

I'm just moving up, so looking for an apartment... A couple good ones in the knob and holloways.

see you out.

Yeah I sort of chuckled at this as well.

There is no need to be shy Rudy. Kite surfing is a holistic and enjoyable sport where anyone with the right attitude is more than welcome. I've met heaps of mates through the sport simply by offering to help or asking for help land a kite. We're all out for each other due to the possible dangers with winds, lack of kite control etc.

I suggest just go out to Yorkeys Knob when you're in town and check out the kiters and just say HI! Lots of cool guys there and all willing to share a story or advice on where/when to kite and what equipment etc. You might even get offered to try one out on the day! But ideally, the local kite shops there will be the best place to approach for lessons and advice.

Other than that, why not try the Cable Ski Park just back down the road from Yorks? A great fun day to be had and learn basic balance and feet posture for when you're out there.

Have fun!
