Hey guys,
I spent a 3 hour session today on my twin tip trying to learn to ride toeside in an effort to get on my strapped surfboard and give it a go. i started off just sliding to toeside while riding at speed, that went alright after a few tries. Then tried popping to toeside. Maybe not that helpful for riding a surfboard but just getting more comfortable getting round and keeping my speed. I do seem to bog down a bit and certainly can't ride on a solid upwind tack toeside yet. I can keep my speed up if I head downwind a bit though.

Then tried doing a carving turn to toeside. Obviously pretty important if riding a strapped surfboard. This is where I didn't have as much succes as i'd like. I veer off downwind a bit with the kite high and carve to toeside while bringing the kite over the top. I dive the kite down to as I would on the tt to transition. I was bogging down pretty bad and found myself losing speed and sinking or wussing out and just sliding back to heelside to keep going.

I'm sure with some more time working on it i'll get it right. I don't expect to have it all sorted in just 3 hours. Just looking for any tips that may help shave a little off the learning curve. Should I just grab the surfboard and have a go, maybe a downwinder, or should I keep working with the twin tip first?

Thanks
Josh

I'm experiencing the same bogging down after the turn

i've found that different from heel side, when u have ur weight on back foot mainly I need to put more weight on the front foot when ridding toe side. when doing the turn if you have enough space, I had success with driving the kite hard and doing a large turn heading down wind a little and transittion wieght until it feels good to start heading up wind toe side.

Keen to see ur replies good luck I need it too

be nice if you could just use a surfboard at it all comes good does that ever happen

IMO its heaps easier to ride toeside on a SB, they also carve much better than a TT because of the higher volume, just keep your weight on your front foot so you don't bog the tail especially when riding toeside.

My advice- it's all about when you turn the kite and having the kite moving to pull you through the turn.....if you bear downwind then turn the kite it wont respond and you wont get through your turn- initiate the turn in the kite and let it pull you through the carve.

down loop the kite instead and begin the down loop just after you bare off
