Yeah it does cost a bit to buy all new gear.I bought the harness new from kitepower and found a new board and bindings on ebay for around $300 and bought a 2011 model kite in new condition for $500.Then once i'm up and riding and more confident i'll buy a new kite

That seems pretty exxy, I bought brand new for less than what you have been quoted.

What do you get for that type of cashola?

If you are looking for a cheaper option for new gear check out Switch kites. They are an online warehouse and sell their gear direct to the public and bypass the merchants. It's a cheaper option but you don't really get the one on one service you get from a shop of course.

I myself like to be able to see something before I buy it but with your first kite it doesn't matter that much as long as you know you are buying a good allround kite. I think with Switch that is the Element.

Some people prefer to buy from shops, some don't really care. Just check it out it might be worth it for ya.

(no I'm not a team rider)

There are generally end of season specials where they combine a full combo for under $2k. Alternatively look at some of the cheaper brands.

Its a shame as I feel a bit wrong not supporting the little guy...

Be good if people could post links to specials for gear but I guess it can get frowned by the site admin due to free advertising.
I was looking at the switch kites swell seem to be getting some good reviews, just remember u also need to factor in cost of bar and lines when buying kites some include them some dont .

Some kite shops have a members list. If you join up then you'll get regular info on specials, demo days etc.

Try www.kitepower.com.au/collections/sale

Lots of lightly used gear hear at good prices and some other real low priced gear that has plenty of love left to give. I just put word kitepower in the search and this was the result, but thats not all the gear we have listed.
