No mention of the style of kite - but even the ones you have been told are 'safe' are exempt from this potential.

Trainers & lessons guys. Its just not worth the grief.

And the best advise offered in the post mortem posted (IMO) is dont play on the beach. Get out and offshore as far as is reasonable and fly your kite out there.
So many newbs think that practising on the beach is the 'safe' way.
WRONG - its the absolute worst place.
