I was watching the progression DVD and I noticed that the riders ride both goofy and with their left foot forward. Is this normal in kitesurfing?

p.s. I know this may be a dumb question.

Yes mate you need to ride goofy and natural ( both heel side) or ride one way toe side. Both heel side is the go at first, don't worry you'll work it out

I am seriously pumped for Jukesy. Can't wait to see you on video, even from now progressing until he makes it. It will make those Progession videos look like a Mister Maker video.

Sorry if this is thread hijacking Jukesy. You sound like you are getting a few sessions in.

I tried turning the board around and going toeside for about 2m today before I lost it completely and faceplanted.

It feels so weird not to have a proper back edge!

Are there any tips for being a bit more stable?

riding toeside you will struggle to ride upwind as much as heelside
having your waist harness a little looser so it can slide around will help a lot as this will stop the kite from "twisting" you back to heelside
Having a seat harness is a complete write off unless you have a dynabar or something similar

Agree with flyingcab. The secret to toeside is getting the pull from the hip. It's also all about practice and lift the heel on your back foot and get the weight over the balls of your feet. You'll need more weight on the front foot than you think too. Once mastered it is the first step to big bottom turns in the waves.

I started with a dynabar but now just use a piece of rope and a shackle.
