I've started to do downloops while I change direction and really love it. It looks so awesome and is great fun to start feeling that pressure when the kite shoots through the middle of the wind window.
However I get a bit confused which way to turn the bar after the downloop when the lines are crossed. Is there a way to memorise it? I have gotten it wrong a couple of times and crashed the kite coz I was pulling on the wrong side.
Do I just have to make sure that I've got the red side of the bar back in my left hand, as long as that's the case, the kite will fly the right way even with crossed lines?

Also can I leave the lines crossed for a while until sorting them out, especially when I do a transition close to shore where the waves break and I primarily have to focus on getting passed the break again?

Thanks for help.

Forehand pulls, push it to unspin.

Maybe, I forget.... Bar rotates the same way as the kite.

Get a bar with properly colored (easy to see) left and right.

Yes crossed lines are usually fine but it's wearing them...

Just remember the color on the bar
it will function the same with crossed lines.... correct the bar after youve sent the kite through both quadrants of the window.
The only downside to crossed lines
Is excessive wear on the lines if you steer while there crossed....over a long period of time the lines will appear worn where they cross.
Just keep steering to a minimum and correct asap.

Front roll with a downloop on the transition = no crossed lines

keep riding after the turn with your lines crossed, when you are settled figure out what way to spin it. After a few runs you will start to develop the muscle memory, this is when you can start doing it earlier

I wish. I see a few posts that have obviously somehow been embedded in a quote...wonder if I hit "quote" button instead of "reply"...

Spin the bar the same way you just looped the kite. Right hand downloop spin the bar clockwise or right hand down and so on.

At what point during the roll do you loop the kite?

At the right time ;)

Depends on the kite, how much pull you want, how prepared you are to land without support from the kite...how comfortable you are with looping kites.

Start with a regular front roll, land with the board pointing downwind then loop the kite fast and ride away.

Good advice. I'm sure it's just practice. Cheers.

I did it by accident the first time, trying to stop from over-flying the kite at the edge of the window. Then it was just a matter of playing with it...

Yer, spot on Kami...

It's ALL about timing, once u get it down it's fun trying different timing with the downloop....

The later and quicker u loop, the easier it is....i have also found that if u are coming in to hot to land, keep the loop going for full rotation and continue riding straight instead of transition....don't seem to stack as much

I made this video 2 years ago after I got the hang of downloop jump and downloop front rolls. Couple shots show the kite position and the hand on bar position for when to pull front hand. Take a look might help you...
