Alright, I've searched but each persons situation is unique. I'd like to start looking for a second kite to add. I'm still new to the sport but I want to be able to take advantage of every kiting opportunity.

Stats:
96kgs (yeah, I'm not small)
6' tall
140 North Xride
2010 North Rebel 10m
WA winds as I'm in Perth.

I wouldn't say there is a peticular style or condidtion I prefer to ride atm, I'm still sticking to safer flatter water at the moment but i have ventured out in a bit of swell and had good fun.

2 key variables here. Winter is coming and I'm planning a kite trip to PNG in August. Both of these things leave me thinking I should go smaller first, maybe 8m. My purchase of a 10m first puts me sort of in no mans land when it comes to buying another kite. I suspect I'll eventually end up with a 3 kite quiver, one on either side of the 10. The 10 is good for me from about 17-27 although I would like to have the option of switching to a smaller kite at about 25knots. I'm sure with more kite skills I could work it hard to get the 10 to work in a bit less wind.

I'd like to get another North kite, probably secondhand but demo or new runout would be fine too, price is not my biggest concern. I was kicking around the idea of an 8m Vegas if i find one in good nick. Is a 7 too small for my big ass? If you reckon I should go to a larger kite first, how large?

I suppose I could also add another board to expand my range a bit as well. I'd like to try a strapped surfboard but I need to build my skills a bit more first. What do you reckon?

Brain fart. Vegas doesn't come in 8m.

I'm sure someone has an opinion. Surely, on Seabreeze, there should have been 5 people slagging me off for being a noob already.

Really though, any advice would be appreciated.

I reckon you have pretty much answered your own question! You have the problem whether to go up or down as your kite is in the middle ground.

If it was me I would be looking to move to a two kite quiver of 12 and 8/9 sizes.

PNG will be fun, and you will predominately use your 10, but to maximise your time on water after shelling out money to go there purely for kiting, I would suggest a 12. Generally speakiing you will get good wind in the afternoons, but up until lunch it is often lighter. Also if you get stuck with a lighter break in the trade winds then you will want a larger kite to at least salvage some water time.

I have never flown a North so can't help with matching a kite, but PNG is Airush country!!

A 2 kite quiver is good but a 3 kite quiver is better, 14/15, your 10 and a 7/8m and you would be set for any conditions. If i was you and you were going to keep the kites for a few years and upgrade one kite each year this year i would grab the 7/8m, next year a light wind kite and the year after upgrade the 10m and so on replacing the oldest kite each year. Board last a lot longer and for your weight i would eventualy add a 134/135 and keep the 140 for light winds.

Sorted today. Got a greeat deal on a 7m and 12m 2010 Vegas a fellow Seabreezer.

Really loking forward to using both of these. If only the wind would co-operate a bit.
