Hi all,
Have had a number of lessons and am now at the stage of looking for a kite. I am about 60kg and am looking at getting a 2010 naish cult (9m). What are your thoughts on my selection of kite. Do you have any other suggestions?

Cheers in advance!

A few more Details are required,
What is your location or average wind speed, A 9m might be small for Darwin or to big for Geraldton
Also the board you plan on riding is a consideration in kite choice. Flat Twin tip, Surfboard or Wake style boards All effect how much power you require.
All this said though a 9m Cult is a good kite
P.S the octopus inflation system can be a bitch to repair. Make sure the kite does not have a slow leak

Thanks for your reply.

I will be kiting in Adelaide and have already bought a 127cm Cabrinha Caliber board which was recommended to me by a local shop.

At 60 kgs i would have thought a board around 130 to 132 would have been better for learning, the 127 is really going to hinder your progression and really is not going to suit a 1 kite quiver as well. For Adelaide conditions you are going to be riding in 15 - 25kts most of the time a 9m kite would be fine if you were ridding a bigger board. You may need to look at a grunty kite like a Kahoona 9.5m brand new there only $1500, they are learner friendly and have a great windrange. Or a core gt, 10m bandit 3, etc most delta kites will give you what you need. If you had a bigger board a SLE would have been better. I think you should have selected the kite before the board. but now you have the board it is a little harder to select the kite. You could look secondhand and buy a bigger board and go with the 9m kite to get the full wind range but it's up to you.

Spot on Waxman... IMO a Delta kite would suit your situation and would help with a quick progression
